About Bound Brook

First settled in 1681, Bound Brook developed at an important river crossing and later became a rail and industrial center. Today the borough packs a downtown, residential neighborhoods, schools, parks, local businesses and regional transportation into roughly 1.6 square miles.

The borough sits along the Raritan River between Middle Brook at the Bridgewater side and Green Brook at the Middlesex Borough side. NJ Transit’s Raritan Valley Line, Interstate 287, Route 22 and Route 28 make Bound Brook one of Somerset County’s best-connected small municipalities.

Transportation

Bound Brook Station is on NJ Transit’s Raritan Valley Line, linking the borough with Newark and other communities along the corridor. The downtown station is also a defining part of the borough’s identity and redevelopment strategy.

Drivers have convenient access to Route 28, Route 22 and Interstate 287. Parking rules and commuter permit information can change, so use the borough and NJ Transit for current requirements.

Bound Brook’s recurring community calendar has included RiverFest, a summer farmers market on Hamilton Street, the Battle of Bound Brook reenactment, Memorial Day activities, bicycle races, outdoor movies, Halloween events and a holiday tree lighting.
